Meet Dr. Govindaraju

Viren K. Govindaraju, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Associated Retinal Consultants, serving patients in southeastern Michigan. He specializes in vitreoretinal diseases.

Dr. Govindaraju earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Biochemistry and Chemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle. He earned his medical degree at Central Michigan University College of Medicine in Mount Pleasant, MI. He was a Gold Humanism Honor Society Inductee.

Dr. Govindaraju completed his Transitional Year Internship, Ophthalmology Residency, and Chief Residency at Oakland University William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He then completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants, Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, MI.

He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He served as Ambassador for the American Society of Retina Specialists Mid-Year Forum Program and was also recognized by the Journal of Vitreoretinal Diseases as a Distinguished Contributor. Dr. Govindaraju has presented nationally and internationally and has authored and co-authored multiple articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
